As is the nature of open source, people work on this stuff when they have 
time. Most of us have been very busy with other things. If you would like 
something accomplished, you're more than welcome to contribute.

We seem to be stuck at the moment of deciding which way the project is 
going. Until this is resolved, we can't release a new stable version.

I have been using my refactored tag on our system under pretty high load 
and it is working fine, so at least that's good news.
