Now I solved all my problems working with settings.py. Seems that also the debug works, but If I'll be again in trouble I'll get a try at uwsgi. Anyway the Cherokee server is hosted in a VirtualBox on my Mac. I had a lot of trouble trying to configure a web server with django on the Mac and I'm really happy to had found this solution.
