There's no official support for translation of what you have in your DB - but that's because it's not a core need of most projects, coupled with the fact that there are a number of ways to do it, none of which are more correct than the other. For example - do you have a mirror db per language, or is each translation part of the objects in the original DB?
Basically, it comes down to what you need, best fit, extensibility and personal taste. There are two projects in particular that address this issue that I'm aware of, django-rosetta and django-hvad. There is a third, django-multilingual, but it explicitly states "THIS PROJECT IS *NOT* SUPPORTED AND SHOULD NOT BE USED UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!"
