Thanks for all your suggestions - looking over JSON it seems a much
more straightforward and lightweight thing to deal with than XML,
especially since it's so much closer to straight Python dictionaries
(which I'm more than used to). To be honest, I had no real love of
XML, but it seemed to be the standard and like I said, I was always
taught that Javascript was a dirty word, so a lot of this JSON /
AJAX / ACRONYM stuff just flies over my head. Thanks for the heads up
about MongoDB, too. After a quick Google there seems to be enough
people using it and Django together to not make it seem so
intimidating, and it looks like a great fit for the kind of content
the site will create.

And chunks of data in databases aren't called blobs? Thank you very
much, 7 year old PHP/MySQL education.
