No problem...dissapointed to see you not go with SCSI but money better spent elsewhere i guess for now...but if you get rich and get ProTools rig...you better have seagate cheetahs.
I'm a steadfast SCSI diehard and would take a cheetah drive over ANY ide drive, but I will admit that if I *had* to buy IDE I would get this one (cory that means you should buy this one): 100GB 7200rpm WD1000JB Special Edition http://www.westerndigital.com/products/Products.asp?DriveID=24 This baby has a ****8MB**** buffer on it...4x more than a regular WD IDE drive....perfect for AV Editing....this is the only drive I will admit to having performance values similar to good SCSI seagate drives.....and the only one I would reccomend for a AV/DV rig..... (a hard drive buffer is the memory device on a hard drive that stores the data that is "on deck" for the next request from the computer system....the bigger the buffer the less chance of skips and hiccups recording and playing back since the data is already queued up and waiting.) peace -LOS ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cory Secrist" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, December 10, 2001 2:43 PM Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: Computer Check: Need your advice > To David Gover, PANTHER, ph, insecto, AndyGeezerBloke, > Kevin Cameron, Nick, PWoodhead, and anyone else who > responded to my computer question-- MUCH LOVE AND > RESPECT! > > I'm going to take the advice on getting an IDE 7200 as > opposed to the SCSI.
