true, but its not *just* politics, just because the kernel is x86 portable, thats probably less than 1% of the task of porting the whole o/s to a new architecture, which would be no easy undertaking. and a kernel alone is useless to the vast majority of people. i honestly dont think apple would have enough people to accomplish a port while they're still ironing out the bugs in the ppc version. plus, unless they made sure they supported every mobo/bios/cpu/component out there and thats something that linux is struggling to do even with thousands of people working on it round the world. there are probably enough bugs in just the various pc bios's out there to keep a team of developers busy for years, never mind the gfx cards, ide chips and so on and so on...
but you're right, even if they could, they probably wouldnt. and i think part of apples success at reinventing themselves has been their "look and feel" and the fact they're visually distinctive and renowned to quality components. any move from that could destroy brand image and might not be useful in the long run... anyways, this is getting off-topic... ph. ----- Original Message ----- From: "PANTHER" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2001 3:59 PM Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: OSX Gonna Rip it Up! > Scope, > > In short, no.
