Hi

Aw, I know all this, but dubs, they're just part of the scene, its the warm
laquer, its their temporary nature, the history...I know CDs are a lot less
hassle, but somethings are sacred...

Cheers

Dan

I've seen Optical some years back, on a Friday afternoon at music house,
with a handful of DATS waiting to get dubs pressed up, looking pretty
unimpressed. I think this waiting around *may* have something to do with his
decision to use CDRs. OK, plates do have a warmth to them and a better
bottom end, but using CDRs means you can finish a mix an hour before you
play out, record it to CDR (without the engineer telling you he won't make
it any louder, cuz it'll blow his needle, or without worrying about the
plate getting f*cked up) it'll last longer and be more durable.

He doesn't premix a whole set on CDR by the way.

I still prefer dubs myself though. It's the smell of warm lacquer...
