My opinion for what's its worth: DJing has always been about vinyl...just like sailing is about wind....I don't consider myself to be a technophobe because I want to see a DJ use vinyl...I think that the problem here is trainspotters and they're unending appetite for Dub Plates...its not really a question about media...its the fact that DJs seem to need to build their cred around having new choons that no one else has...as a result the scene is moving so fast that alot of disposable choons are made just to keep things fresh...

And playing dub�s and promos is supposed to be a "cool" thing for lots of DJs and punters aswell. When I go clubbing I want so hear new stuff or just a good mix. It doesn�t matter for me if this guy spins dubs, normal vinyl releases, CDs or pancakes. ; ) But besides that good mix (what would be enought to satify me as a producer) a DJ often has to deliver a "show". Spinning lots of dubs can be part of the show punters expect to see, but at the end oth the day a dubplate is just a "storage-device" for music like any other media. No matter what the media is it should be done live. I agree there has to be (some) performance! Otherwise it would be enought for a DJ to send over the newest mix-CDR and get the money without even showing up.
