>the tannoy reveals > only go down to 62Hz, while the 20/20's and truths hit 50, so the tannoys > are out. i use the active reveals because of an accident and i ended up buying them. they have an exelent linear response and stereo imaging, and this is factual. as for the bottom end of the spectrum, i usually mix down with no concerns and test the at some club cervin vega's at the studio were i work. usually i get the right sounding almost at first. Consider this: wouldn't Tannoy, a credited and dedicated speaker manufacturer, give you that extra 10 hz if they thought it was worth it? is quantity better than quality? There isn't much point in trying to get near fields to act as mid fields or any of them. One thing i can tell you to be carefull is with specs. they are made in special rooms at given atmospheric conditions, etc... i'm sure your studio is not like that. All speakers have some personality... and my own personality as written tannoy all over! I had to get used to Absolute's and Yamaha's NS 10 because they seem to run the show here in Portugal. A friend of mine, professional speaker designer, love's the cirle 5 from HHB. you should also consider, among millinons of things, that active speaker produce a more "spec like" sound, because the amp is built for it and runs no cabling. My advice is for you to get the CD's you know by heart and listened to it in several conditions (and speakers) and go to the stores and test them out, because our sound preception (read human earing system wich includes the ear, bone structure and brain decoding of pressure among others) as LOADS of cultural, age and usage degradation! this makes your earing unique, and if the pair is for you, you have to test them - probably you will end up with something that you never considered! As for the low end and if you produce D.n.B, my advice is to get the pair you think is more close to your earing parameters and add a sub. No 50hz truth can beat that, only if you add them a sub! My favorites: any TANNOY, active Mackie's (and only one's from this manufacturer, i think), Hafler (very good but a bit to the expensive side), the Spirit's seem cool but a bit heavy after some hours as the NS10's (too much mid detail atacks you). Never liked the Genelec's but everyone i work with love them. other's great speakers are KRK and HHB. sorry about this testament i was wondering if any of you guys have had experience with one or > both of these models, and what you thought. a friend of mine has the > 20/20's, and i'm very impressed with them, but some people swear by the > truths... so if any of you have experience with these two models, how do > they do in the long run? have you noticed any tendencies (harsh high end, > weak bass after a while)? any help would be greatly appreciated, i'm gonna > A/B them at the store, but that time-tested experiences would help too. > > thanks, > > joe > http://www.mp3.com/sinner_dnb > > > --- > Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk > You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
