You can swap over fine. Good point about the chain though -
make sure there's not a hard drive on the same slot!

Hi

Am i right in thinking that I shouldn't have to worry about
having a spare
IDE connector because i would be replacing the old CDRom
with the new one -
non?

Are these CDRWs all IDE?

Short of taking the whole thing apart, how can i tell before
i buy it what
spec it needs to be - My computer, Properties, Device
Manager?

Cheers

Dan

I got one of these puppies about 6 months ago.. (Liteon)
(paid about 80 at
the time)

Dirt cheap, fast, reliable and almost silent! What more do
you want?

The exact model I have isn't on that page but those ones are
similar (a bit
quicker)..

Whatever you get, make sure it:

1. Is Burnproof.
2. Can run on your spare IDE connector. (i.e. Some CDRWs
have to be
installed on EITHER a master OR slave connection.. Some can
run on both)..
If You only have 1 free IDE port for example you would need
to make sure the
CDRW you get can run on it..

Hi

Since i have begun to make a few tunes I like and might want
to backup my
samples now and again (or send sample CDs to people etc), I
looking at
buying a CDRW for my PC. I looked at a just getting a
separates audio one
for tunes, but data backups and MP3 CDs would be equally
useful too, so I
want a PC one.

Are there any makes/models to avoid or are all the new
burnproof LG, TEAC,
Panasonic etc models fine?
How easy are they to fit - are they fairly simple (i have
fitted PCI cards
so it shouldn't be too much different)?
How do I know what connection it needs to be (IDE etc) - not
sure about this
bit.

Thanks for the help,
Any other info welcome

Dan
PS I don't really want to spend more than 65-75 ;-)
