Contentious
Issues....f'real
I've used and liked having a
hardware based studio for about 3yrs - Pc, mixer, yamaha sampler, supernova
synth, FX, and compressors, but I was wondering how much things would change for
the better if i sold the lot and bought a G4 Mac or superfast Athlon PC. I
sometimes get fed up with the clutter and if i moved house etc, it would be the
perfect studio.
I would try to base it
around a USB/Firewire audio/Midi interface for the controller keyboard and
sampling audio from vinyl /recording to DAT etc and Logic Audio (although not
available for PC anymore) and soft synths, samplers for sound creation and
sequencing.... I could record the tunes digitally to DAT and return them into
the computer for mastering using T Racks or Cool Edit etc and be ready for the
CDRW, just using a computer and my amp and studio monitors.
Would it be better just to use
Reason?
I wondered if anyone else has
done this and if they thought it was worth it?
I would have weigh off the more
temperamental nature of a computer based system, but then depending how it
was built it could be a good move.
Any ideas for the ultimate
small scale studio?
Cheers
