Personally I would have the first partition at about 5GB, and leave it only for your OS, installed programs, and swapfile. The rest of the HD can be partitioned however you want, but the reason I have mine setup like this, is when the world (or at least your pc) turns to shit, its a pretty simple step to just format your first partition without worry of losing all your precious data..... Partitioning your HD is an easy task, but if you dont have the first clue in doing it, I'd have a hunt for Powerquest's Partition Magic. Its easy to use, and lets you resize or merge a partition without having to format it. -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Norman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, 18 December 2002 23:00 To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: Uh oh, No HD detection Yep, its a couple of years old, so I was going to just copy the drive contents across once installed to a little partition on the new HD to keep it all safe. My friend mentioned that AWARD BIOS 4.5x has a 33.8GB limitation so he said there may be some way of making the BIOS think the drive is smaller than it is by limiting the size to 30gig (annoying since i bought a 60!) or could fool the BIOS with a download from the Maxtor peeps - any ideas?
