you best leave questions on the "scene" up to the clubbers (or "fans").  if you're looking for submissions it's better to write a quick professional note about who you are, the name of the website/magazine/whatever you work for, location/reach/circulation/etc, what it is exactly you are looking for and all details involved.  ask for responses off list.  include your email address and relevant websites etc.  just a tip.  you might find more people who are interested in submitting reviews on the other list.

if you're stuck for some good clubbing in North America go to Toronto (start with System Soundbar, if you like international DJs), New York City (CentroFly) or Montreal.

you should pick up some producer magazines if you want to know in advance of everyone else in the scene about new styles of music starting to appear.  e.g. FutureMusic, Remix, etc.  there is hope for the American music industry, maybe Sony isn't doing anything but the independent bands/musicians/DJs are.

hope that helps.

Dear List,
No, no no I was honestly wondering about the scene over there, not to incite flame mails. I thought this was a production list not some video game chatroom.  Unfortunately the responses yielded more elitist insults than opinions or thoughtful insights.  I still believe that by highlighting our differences we can make the two scenes more or less equal, but I digress.  I apologize to all those who took this post the wrong way.
