www.sospubs.co.uk is also a good site for production techniques. I
think the first thing though is just finding a package you like (cubase, logic
etc, etc) and getting to know it well. Likewise, there are so many plug
ins out there (if you take that route) it's better to start of with a few rather
than having thousands of options to search through and never getting much
done.... So overall keep it simple to start off with. Personally I'd
say it's good to start off with a few loops/samples and build from there.
Then just listen to as many d'n'b tracks as posisble through your speakers, so
you get to know them, and can get an idea of how your tracks are sounding in
comparison.
