Yep
trial and error is the best way IMO.
I find
just playing aroud with the keyboard and software is
productive.
I
never plan out what I am going to make.
Load
up some different samples play a few notes on your keyboard and you'll coem up
with a catchy little riff/bass-line etc.
just
build it from there.
I must
admit though, that I have spent hours just going through different sounds - and
then I downoad more refill packs for Reason and I'll spend a nother few hours
just playing around with them and never progressing my
tracks!!
What
software are you using?
Matt

Well, to answer a few questions, I don't play anywhere, 'cept my bedroom. I have been a booking agent for the last (almost) 5 years, and got tired of it. I started playing records somewhere along the line, and recently decided to put a li'l money into my habit. Got some good software, some less than good hardware, and some old keyboards and organic instruments. Just wanted to see where I can take this, ya know?
My understanding of the music and sounds are advanced, however, its the actual technique of production im finding myself stumped by. Trial and error?
Thanks again.
