No, it only affects the number of articles that can be looked up by messageid, but any item referred to by group and item number will still be accessable.

Hi, the key error is lower down where it shows this:
** History over 2gig limit reduce pile size of non binary piles 2050MB > 2050MB
To fix this you need to use a setting to limit this history file size. hist_max 1000000000
Then restart dnews and run an expire.
