Hi knowledgeable colleagues!

I recently upgraded to ascii, due to some itch I can't
quite remember now ;-)

Everything was fine, till I rebooted.

I got some errors during boot:

INIT: cannot execute "/usr/sbin/runsvdir-start"
(this line repeated)

INIT: Id "SV" respawning too fast, disabled for 5 minutes

Also, no such file, /usr/sbin/runsvdir-start:

$ ls /usr/sbin/run*

/usr/sbin/runq
/usr/sbin/runsvchdir

Later, when I tried 'startx', the Xserver failed to start:

xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server
xinit: connection refused

FWIW I did succeed to start X as root.

For upgrading, I used this process:

1. modify /etc/apt/sources.list:

  deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii main
  deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii-updates main
  deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii-security main
  deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii-backports main

2. apt-get update
3. apt-get upgrade
4. apt-get dist-upgrade

I like to think I know a lot about linux by this time,
but still tend to get caught out when things go wrong :-/

Will appreciate any suggestions....
