Thank you. I think a more salient issue might be that URI schemes can imply default ports and name resolution mechanisms. As applications (imho, rightly) begin to hide URI schemes, inventing new name resolution mechanisms will become easier to do. I think having a global namespace is extremely valuable, but I can see ways in which short-sighted DNS arguments could result in fragmentation at the scheme level. thanks, Rob
