Imagine if every Senator developed an agressive online advocacy effort
like John McCain <http://www.straighttalkamerica.com>. This is just an
example of their timely use of e-mail alerts in the recent campaign
finance reform push. it seems clear that McCain is increasing his power
this way. When will others follow?

Does any know of other members of Congress or any elected official
anywhere that aggressively uses e-mail alerts for online advocacy? The
idea that a fellow member of the Senate is directing the public to target
specific Senators seems pretty radical to me. It is normal for
politicians to abstractly encourage people to "contact their member of
Congress."

Subject: CFR Senate Action Alert

Opponents of Campaign Finance Reform (CFR) legislation have started a
massive effort to persuade Senators to vote against McCain-Feingold . Using

with phone calls and e-mails. In this effort, they are targeting Senators
who have supported CFR in the past.

Please call the following list of Senators and let them know that you
appreciate their past support of Campaign Finance Reform. Let each of these
Senators know that they MUST continue to support CFR and vote for final
passage of the bill to have it sent to the President.
