First let's decide do we want Search => Go, or just Search as a submit button?
I just had a hard time getting a real button to fit in and look close to the same in different clients.
what others think? I think one word is better than two.
BTW -- does anyone else think that the Prev|Next images are a bit big or over powering? What about http://hank.org:5000/test1/docs/index.html?
-0, I think it's good for them to stand out, I believe the thin margin is good. May be what makes certain buttons overpowering is the strong bg. What if use a lighter bg similar to the bg of the left box with menus? For buttons and the title?
Really as I look at it now, it's the [SRC] button that stands out. I liked it better when I first looked at it than now a few hours later. But I also tend to like a lot of white space.
It's an optical illusion - if the [SRC] is by itself then it looks big, but if I resize my window smaller to force [SRC] next to [Next] then it's no so big.
Maybe SRC doesn't need to be all caps.
I'm confused. What stands out is the strong background. If you s/SRC/src/ the bg is even more standing out. Trying a lighter bg is a possible solution, no?
we have an empty space anyway, and it's a useful feel. What if I prefer to read the PDFs and not HTML, that way I'll have to scroll down all the time... think of long pages. We can definitely have them in both places.
Ok. I'd think that PDF people would be printing, but you never know.
PDF is actually makes a much nicer reading than HTML. If you read in a sequence.
There is another problem: When you go deeper than the subgroup listed in options, you cannot search only it. i.e. the concept of 'This section' is gone. So may be we keep the Whole site/ This section only options?
True, but I wouldn't worry about that. I don't think it needs to be that fine grain.
I disagree, why losing the feature we get for free? Since our document is in fact a superset of subsections,
which can be searched via search, I'll use the search feature to find what I need within the page,
rather than popping the browser's 'Find' and click 'Next', till I get what I want.
No matter what I'd keep 'This section' always selected. You already have the title of what is 'This section' exactly next to it. Also I'd s/This sectin/This and beneath/ or something like that.
