i'm -1 for this whole solution, sorry - maybe too late
a) the prev|up|next navigation sits bad IMO on the left side

go forward i reckon. a2) if we stick to this we need to fix the bottom as well

I agree with you that we have moved things back and forth. So far we have +3 on the moving search back to the top and -1 keeping it on the left. I hope we will get a few more opinions.
Man, it just makes things so much more compact and it brings the search back to the content it searches. making Search 'This' so much more intuitive!
