 I wasn't aiming at using MySQL-specific functions. I'm not sure about what
 SQL standard offers but:
 MSSQL offers DATEDIFF http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql70/fa-fz_19.htm
 PostgreSQL offers date operators to achieve the same
 http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.0/interactive/functions-datetime.html
 This is why this ticket was entered as 'enhancement' rather than defect.
