Hi, Is there a good description (or official description from ICANN/etc.) of the "Technical Contact", and other contacts (admin, etc.) in the WHOIS?
A customer was sent a C&D over a domain, but it was also sent to me, lol (since I'm the technical contact on all domain name registrations). I wanted to demonstrate to the other side that their beef is not with me, but with the owner of the domain name (i.e. admin contact). Paragraph 14 of the gTLD agreement that we use (from OpenSRS) does say "The person named as administrative contact at the time the controlling user name and password are secured shall be the owner of the domain name." Although it would be nice if there was a better reference for the lawyers, or for a judge in the event they're dumb enough to involve me in litigation.
