It does not matter how many TLD's there are, everyone will still want a .com 
because it is seen as
being trustworthy and established.
I set up a new company last year and chose its name solely because it was 
available as a company name and as a .com domain name.

In fact, if you choose any dictionary word apart from things like sex and 
porn they are all available in some TLD somewhere simply because not 
everywhere speaks English!
However, very few people bother, they would rather have 
asfasfaffafasrtwrt.com than home.it (which is actually available for 
registration).
