The transactions going though ddirect.domainauctionservice.com are managed
by DomainDirect (retail division).
Any domains won though that auction site would be set up with a parking
account where the renewal fee is $14.99/year.

As a buyer I wouldn't go through a reseller channel either, unless it was
cheaper.

But I would like an answer from TuCows on this question: How is Tucows
billing the auction customers for renewals at
ddirect.domainauctionservice.com, and how much are those customers paying
for auction related renewals? The posted renewal rate of $14.99 /year?

Interesting. I had a similar experience. I posted to a forum and
someone emailed me and said they would rather deal directly with the
source as well and were going over to tucowsauctions.com. I called
support and they said tucowsauctions.com was the generic page if no one
had the auction configured.

Guess I should have done a little more digging.

In the case of the auctions, different then my feeling about domain
registrations and other ancillary products, I don't want Tucows to be
transparent!
