visitors in England expect at this domain versus visitors from the United
States? What if they speak Chinese? The solution we have chosen will figure
that out automatically, without you having to lift a finger. The end result?
Higher revenue since the landing page experience reflects what the visitor
is *really* looking for.

I can certainly agree with you on the pictures and making the process as
automatic/scalable as possible but at the moment landing page systems are,
to be frank, pretty stupid. I noticed the SedoPro system allowed you to
enter keywords associated with the domains (tagging) and thought that was a
step in the right direction.

The best targeting is done by knowing the business of the original site.
Let’s take your example of paris.com. Well if it was a site about Paris,
France then you would put in the appropriate keywords, exactly *because* you
wouldn’t want information about a certain heiress being shown :-) The people
who followed existing web links would be looking for that specific
information so conversions would be higher. I still believe existing web
links provides a higher traffic source than type-ins.

If the system is trying to work that out automatically by A/B testing that
is a step in the right direction but I don’t think they will ever get it
even 60% right. Take a hypothetical example like fredjacks.com, a domain
that used to sell car parts. I’ve not seen a parking page yet that has
managed to work that one out without a key term being in the domain name
itself. Maybe one day they can check the context of the existing inbound
links but they aren’t there yet.

Still these domains are only bringing us revenue for a very short period so
maybe you are right, it’s most likely not worth us paying this level of
attention to them.
