Microsoft is also now using SRV to get IM interoperability with
different IM systems and Exchange Server.

We recently had a customer ask for SRV support, we did a bit of
background research, and found it was very easy to implement.  Less
than seven days later we had a fully developed and tested SRV feature
added to our DNS hosting.

I've said this many time before about trying to outsource DNS and
e-mail to a third party while trying to provide your own support to
customers. Being flexible and able to quickly respond to customer
requests is another advantage of hosting your own DNS and e-mail and
this is just one example of that.
