Hey fans,

Anyone who has heard of the Dixie Dregs knows who Steve Morse I got the
pleasure of meeting Steve at Ziggy's here In Winston Salem last Friday
night. I've wondered for years how he hooked up with Patrick Simmons back in
the early '80's when Pat sang "Ridin' High" on the Dregs' Industry Standard
album. (Incidently this tune is only one of 2 that has a singer on any
Dregs' albums) Steve explained to me that the Dregs were touring with the
Doobies (sorry I missed that lineup). He and Pat became friends as they both
have a love for motorcycles. Steve said he worked Pat to death trying to get
the vocals the way he wanted it to sound. Pat's voice was roughed up for two
days during recording. For those of you familiar with this song you will know
that Pat sounded unusual. You can tell Pat woked hard on that one because the
vocals are strong, unlike anything I've heard come out of Pat's mouth.

Anyway, it was a real thrill to meet and talk to Steve. He's a nice guy but
what else would I expect. He likes the Doobs, too. I thought some of you
might find this story interesting. By the way the Dregs will be touring this
winter. Try and catch 'em if you can. They are monsters. Maybe the two bands
will do some shows together, again

Later,
Steve
