Doobs, I thought I'd throw in my two cents on the Toga gathering and a show I went to a few days later in my home state of Washington. The Toga experience was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers and of course our beloved prez Laurin and 1st family. The numbers grew in attendees but more importantly the donations. Chris has a running start on the toy drive this year and a huge thanks to Peter Dubin for starting the whole toy gig...( remember the first year )? I am amazed at the way the Doobies themselves are so gracious with their time and it was cool to see Bruce Cohn there looking at Doobie Dan's collection and soaking in the scene. I had a chance to pick some notes with Dave Wasserstrom and Eric Ornek who are very fine pickers...wish we had more time. A huge Thanks for all that participated and donated. I only hope I get a chance to meet everyone next time...Running into Barry at the Airport was cool and we chatted about the up comming show in Monroe, WA. When I flew home Saturday my girlfriend picked me up and we were off to the Mariner game . Since she felt a little under the weather I sold my tix and opted for lunch. There she got a second wind so we went to a party in the country where a band was playing..They asked me to sit in and since all I had was the acoustic I lit into Listen to the Music. The folks there loved it. The Monroe show was killer....We had the typical Seattle drizzle shinning on everyone and Tommy made a comment about being wet and not caring. They rocked Washington for sure. Afterwards I got to meet Glenn Maloy who was at Toga but I never met. When the Doobs had their meal we went back to visit. John MacFee checked out a software package that a buddy has developed and we talked music. For those pickers out there check out http://www.riffinteractive.com for some cool online lessons.
