Scott, I'm with ya on this. I went to Saratoga a fan of the music, I came home with an appreciation for the work of the band beyond the music. They are truly awesome!!

My first thought wasto start at the top with a campaign that goes like this "Skylark the tasmanian bass player for president?" "Patrick Simmons takes his South City Midnight Lady north." Etc.... you get the point. I started to think that If we could put a Brother in the White House ALL of the medias would stand up and take notice. But my second thought was, we don't want to put a Brother in the White House, we want to keep them in the band...the greatest band of all time.We need them out here doing the good work they do Thepeople they help needs them out here and, listening to their music, it feels likeTHEY need to be outhere.
So I reeled in my very active imagination and started to think of ways the fan club could pull together to make others stand up and take notice. I gotta tell ya I like your idea (and the ideas of the others.) The Doobie Brothers sit back quietly, never patting themselves on the back like a lot of other bands do.They make their music and through that music they make changes. They don't ask for anything more than for someone to listen to their music and enjoy it.

Write to VH1 and Congress and anyoneelse who will listen. We are thefan club. We appreciate themessagein the music and we cover a lot ofstates. Put the Doobie Brothers back in their minds by talking about the good they do and then wait. For whatyou ask? Waitfor the new songs to come out. I believe the Brothers will have that piece of history with their new song "People Gotta Love Again."It has the opportunity to pull all people together to makethe change the Brothers talk about because it touches a chord inus that makes us stop and take a look at the problems that are right in front of us everyday. To sum it all up... IT IS an AWESOME song!

Take care,

What more can be said? We are all so lucky to belong to this group, centered around the greatest group of people on this planet...The Doobies Brothers!
After seeing and hearing all the awesome things that went on at Saratoga, and all the other stops along the tour, it's hard to measure the impact that this group of people can have on peoples lives. From the memories of the concerts, past and present, to the people you meet in this fan club with the common bond of the Doobies, and to the raising of awareness of all the causes that the Brothers support all over the world. The Vets, Wildlife Federation, Children's Hospitals...
And then there's all the great things they do for us...the fans. There never was or will be another group that is so dedicated to their fans as The Brothers. They work their tails off going around the world to bring us the best music, and still find the time and energy to meet with us, talk to us, sign auto's, and let us take pictures. And be sogracious while we act like total fools in the presence of these Gods.
Now they post the songs for us on the net to download... for free! There is NO other group that does this much to show their appreciation to their fans.Well, maybe after you pay for your membership. Maybe I'm a littlebiased, cuz I never really looked around in any other fan club. Thereare no otherfan clubsout there, are there?
So...if VH1 can't open their eyes to see these guys do a little more for the world than Brittney Spears or Boy George, screw 'em! I say we go right to congress and have The Doobie Brothers promoted to:
"Sexy Band of the United States of America"
I mean, don't they stand for everything American? Peace, freedom, giving, family values, supporting of all good causes. It's the only logical thing to do. Screw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That's for those little un-knows like Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Let's do it people...write you congressmen now!!!
That's my humble little opinion of what I think this band is all about. What do you think?
Peace and love,
Scott in South Florida
