Hi CinderGina, I'll speculate!
My main job out here in Denver is to be a free-lance percussionist
(sideman). That means I play with a number of bands and singer-songwriters.
When they can afford to hire me, they do, depending on the type of gig it is.
When I play with these bands, I don't have any say as to how they are run
(business decisions, personnel decisions, the type of tunes that are played),
I just show up and play the best I can. I think that Tom, Pat, Big Mike,
John, and Keith are the "Doobie Brothers" and the other fellows are sidemen.
That's my speculation!
