Once I got the USB writer package working, Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) seemed
to run perfectly on my wife's Asus EEE 901 and she's checking it out to see if
she wants to install it permanently.

I haven't checked everything yet, (webcam for example), but it booted
amazingly fast, detected graphics/display OK, put up a perfect desktop,
connected to my wireless access point without fuss and went straight onto the
internet. (Once I'd entered the passphrase the wireless connected faster than
any other laptop I've ever used; it was almost instant.)

I'll update this when the wife has decided what she wants to do.
