Well I gave up trying to fix this and went for a clean install. It takes a while of course, because I had to reinstall all the apps that are not put on by default, but the system is running very nicely and I started at about 2 pm today (that includes downloading and burning the disc). All of my issues seem to be fixed, although I had to check the KDE bugs system to find out the answer to Amarok crashing, (you need to disable third-party scripts in ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc BTW; I renamed it to .old and it worked). I'll let you know if anything else crops up. -- Terry Coles 64 bit computing with Kubuntu Linux -- Next meeting: Blandford Forum, Tuesday 2010-05-11 20:00 http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2645413 Chat: http://www.mibbit.com/?server=irc.blitzed.org&channel=%23dorset List info: https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/dorset
