Hi Peter, > First, to measure the speed I installed Conky. Problem 1: I cannot > figure out how to display the fan speed, but I have got the acpi > temperature showing.
I don't know about Conky, but in the past I'm used sensors(1) from the lm-sensors package. It's old and not properly configured on this machine, but it tries to show things like it87-isa-0290 Adapter: ISA adapter VCore 1: +1.58 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) VCore 2: +2.51 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) +3.3V: +3.23 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) +5V: +3.47 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +6.85 V) +12V: +5.38 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +16.32 V) -12V: -15.21 V (min = -27.36 V, max = +3.93 V) -5V: -7.27 V (min = -13.64 V, max = +4.03 V) Stdby: +2.69 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +6.85 V) VBat: +3.18 V fan1: 3924 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 8) fan2: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 8) M/B Temp: +40.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +75.0°C) sensor = transistor CPU Temp: +41.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +75.0°C) sensor = transistor Temp3: +35.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +75.0°C) sensor = transistor Once lm-sensors is thrown into Google I get search results including http://ubuntumanual.org/posts/127/how-to-control-fan-speed-lm-sensors-in-ubuntu http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fan_Speed_Control and others. Perhaps that'll help. Cheers, Ralph.
