mplayer http://www.windriders.co.uk/video/eastbourne2007small.wmv command, below is the output, I was surprised when mplayer started playing (and complained). Trying to run mplayer via the gui just fails, does not give any errors. For the record the PC is a AMD Athlon XP (1.7ghz) 1gbm memory with an onboard S3 Savage video. The quit bit at the bottom of the output is where I closed the video ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ka...@karen:~$ mplayer http://www.windriders.co.uk/video/eastbourne2007small.wmv MPlayer SVN-r31918 (C) 2000-2010 MPlayer Team Can't open joystick device /dev/input/js0: No such file or directory Can't init input joystick mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory Failed to open LIRC support. Try some of the lavdopts, e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all. - Broken file - Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0. - Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc) - Try -cache 8192. - Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file? - Try -nocache.
