It was just a simple calculation based on the number of pixels in the image and assuming a frame rate of 30fps. Having done some measurements here on the network, both Skype and Tox take around 45 - 54 kbps when there is plenty of headroom. When I was calling my mother this morning the internal bandwidth was up to around 900 kbps, clearly way beyond the broadband link's capabilities. I assume that the extra 850 kbps is the resends. > http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-delay-since-installing-Mavericks/td-> > p/2899703 seems to cover your issue, not being able to control Skype's > camera resolution resulting in video lag, and at one point a "Staff > Moderator" takes interest. All Mac OS X, but it suggests more a Skype > issue than Linux? The problem is Skype, but Microsoft are ignoring it. http://community.skype.com/t5/Linux/Video-call-freezes-and-drops-out-on-Skype-4-3-0-7-Linux/m-p/3225458#M9264[1] Version 4.2.0.11 worked and V4.3.0.37 doesn't, but Microsoft have barred old versions, so I can't log in with V4.2.0.11 any more. -- Terry Coles -------- [1] http://community.skype.com/t5/Linux/Video-call-freezes-and-drops-out-on-Skype-4-3-0-7-Linux/m-p/3225458#M9264 -- Next meeting: Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2015-01-06 20:00 Meets, Mailing list, IRC, LinkedIn, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread on mailing list: mailto:[email protected] How to Report Bugs Effectively: http://goo.gl/4Xue
