Yes, because Mailman added a Reply-To set to the list's address. But this meant the typical default action of "reply" in an MUA, to just go to the originator, instead went to the list and thus "everybody". It seems safer to err on the side of not being a public post if someone replies without checking, and that matches Mailman's recommendation.
