Clive,
Why not set up fixed IP addresses on some devices and change your DCHP settings
Your router is 192.168.1.1 /255.255.255.0
If you have a second remote  switch, make it 192.168.1.2
Set DHCP range to be 192.168.1.16 -255  with the same Subnetmask

Configure fixed devices such as your PC to be 192.168.1.3 (4,5,6 etc) with Subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and Gateway address of 192.168.1.1.  Your NAS and printers should have a fixed address I would think.

[Aside] I have a second old ADSL router  at the end of some powerline adapters and it is 192.168.1.2 , DHCP disabled. I can't find where I have disabled the ADSL, I think it is just disconnected. It does have a couple of DNS addresses set.  My 'upstairs' PC is wired into it with a fixed IP address.  This all works fine.  I am only using it instead of a hub because  it extends my wireless coverage.

Cheers,
Peter

You can check the ARP (the protocol that maps IP address to MAC, and vice

this will list all ARP broadcasts the client has cached.

Hi All

On my return from holiday my Neatgear router has failed to connect to the
internet believed to be damaged by a power cut while away.
I've changed the router for the Talktalk one issued on the last contract (not
used before). Problem is trying to ensure that the IP address is issued to the
required MAC address.
Is there a way of listing the IP to MAC addresses? I have managed to 'lock'
equipment to IP but cannot check to what address it is.
Do not like the way this router shows links, the old Netgear listed Item, MAC &
IP, easy checking.

Unfortunately can't come to Tuesday's meeting, hence this email.
Many thanks

Clive
