It's not magic; it's standards.  You seem to have missed my point.  I never said or implied that all devices can now work with all partition table types because magic.

I simply said that anyone buying a USB stick would expect it to be capable of working in a PC or player because (for example, Windows only works with FAT 32 or efat).

It might be formatted with a GPT partition table when the car expects MBR is probably the point Andrew was trying to make.

Regardless, it's a shame it doesn't support music playback through USB. My car has a limitation where it can only see the first 100 or so tracks I think, so trying to load the family's complete collection on to a USB stick for it doesn't really work that well.
