That symlink probably gets deleted at system bootup. > (since /var/run/dovecot didn't exist here, I have everything below > --prefix=/usr/dovecot-2) If you haven't changed base_dir, then the symlink isn't necessary. In the example above I was assuming base_dir had been changed to /var/run/dovecot from the built-in /usr/local/var/run/dovecot.
