Well, it exists, but I got absolutely no idea why that happens. I haven't even typed in uid 5000 within the config file - it contains only the username 'vmail'. So dovecot is able to translate vmail to uid 5000, but not uid 5000 to user vmail. SELinux has never been enabled.
