That's Mozilla.  What about Entourage, MS Mail products such as
Entourage, Outlook and Live Mail, and  Appl based Mail products?

I thought the question was mainly about Thunderbird, sorry if I
misunderstood.

There is the Dovecot lazy expunge plugin, maybe that could help,
it moves deleted mail out, instead of marking it in-place. I've
not used it personally though.
