I included a gif with the CVS (dqsd.gif) that the sample code in
preferences.js points to. It does not have to use a URL - in fact,
unless you've got a permanent internet connection, it's recommended
against using a URL since until it refreshes it won't actually be
visible.

Or, when you say hyperlink - do you mean the image is a link to the
dqsd site (that'd be cool, too)?

After I get my broadband back (only 5 more days!!!) I'll be able to
play with it again, and I'm wanting to make it so the menu button can
be replaced with the image as well.

Question:
Are there any hard-coded specs for the XML structure we're using? If I
were to start adding an element for accessory information (like
graphic) how would we do that? I don't want to just stuff more tags in
there without getting feedback, but if the searches could be extended
to provide for a URL to a dqsd-compatible menu graphic, and a 'how to'
page for more information about that particular search, that'd be
great. I also think individual change logs within the searches should
be a consideration - especially for custom/weird searches. Search
wizards can automate generating the structure for it, to make it
easier for us. I also think it would be nice if a "search template"
were included that explained each tag or at least exposed all the
'well-known' tags that we might use.
