I can't tell you the number of times I've done stuff like attempt to search for and access SQL statement only to get the encyclopedia, a GUID and get dogpile, .net info and get CNN..... FWIW - I'm on this bandwagon..  Most all of the aliases are hold-over from long long ago when the toolbar had a few searches all built-in.    IMO its easier to navigate the toolbar via intuitive search names than trying to use the special character ones..   for example I have no idea what the alias might be for the dictionary, but I can always come up with using 'dic' intuitively..
