I'm with Charlie, putting files under appdata could pose some serious
problems for those that fiddle with the files regularly, or want to see
how it works under the hood but a portion of the fiels are in folders
that are hidden from them.

A subfolder like "docs\My DQSD\" would be appropriate.

An option to use global files (from the DQSD install path) should also
be available. I know it'll be more work and require a dynamic search.htm
file in order to build it to function that way, but I think it would be
better for shared computers that wish to have identical settings 24/7.
