No doubt drilling out the panel and either putting a second jack there would decrease the "collectibility" of the receiver. It has been done however. I did one about 30 years ago because I got tired of reaching around the side of the receiver, between the receiver and speaker, to try and pull out that right angle plug (not an easy trick) when I wanted the speaker on.

By the way, the front panel phone jack is not exactly wonderful either, since you then have this long phone plug backshell and cord sticking out between the AF Gain and Function switch. This can be a problem, depending upon whether you are right or left handed.

As for selling it, the value would depend upon whether the prospective buyer wanted a receiver to use, or one to sit on the shelf and admire.

I notice that the R4 and R4A/C all have a headphone jack in the front panel.
My R4B does not, although there is a little mark in the front panel where it
would go and the Chassis has a hole behind the mark where it would mount
just fine. I wonder what effect if any this would have on the resale of the
receiver, should I want to sell it in the future?
