Hello All,
I have just been entrusted by a soon-to-be SK, to 'use the daylights' out of his TR-7 (s/n 4814).
I am proud to take on that task.
Now.....Gents, I need schooling......
1) I am sure the original Drake ( Astatic ) 7077 microphone could be found for an 'arm or a leg' ; will a Shure 444D work OK?
Recommendations?
2) Several eBay Sellers (can't trust half of them) state that the power OUTPUT could be set to >150 watts SSB (my only mode) as long as the cooling fans were installed on the radio and power supply. I could use a little more punch; but I don't like to abuse gear either.
Your advice?
3) I have read that there are sources for 'new' cases for the radio. This one has the sticky paint and the previous owner put a hole in the top near the PA grate (or is that suppose to be there?) !!! Either way, I would like a new 'non-sticky' case. Anyone??
