"EP Swynar" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Morning All,
I fretted over the prices of new tubes like the 12BZ6 & 6HS6 used in the R-4 receiver, until I dusted off my trusty old Tube Substitution Handbook... As confirmed by my receiving tube manual, it would appear that a far less expensive 6AH6 should play nicely in place of a 6HS6, & a good (and cheaper) 12BA6 should be a fair stand-in for a soft 12BZ6... I've confirmed the latter sub to be a valid one here yesterday. I wonder if anyone has ever replaced any of the 12-volt filament tubes in their rigs with their equivalent 6-volt types (AFTER soldering-in a series voltage dropping resistor at the tube socket, of course)...? This could be another frugal way of replacing a pricey 12BZ6 with the more common (and cheaper) 6BZ6. ...Always thinkin' here (for better, or worse)...! ~73~ Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net ----------------------------------------------------------------------
