Gary, It almost seems as if some dirt has hardened on the surface. Hard to explain. Applying simple green seems to do some clean up, but residue continues to remain. Since simple green did something, I guess I should continue to apply it. I figured the copper cleaner would be too strong, but knew of it and thought I would ask. I'll try to get a picture of it and forward it.

The corrosion / rust often occurs where the lacquer coating is compromised. I always clean the rust up best I can and coat the chassis with polyurethane.
