While it's certainly possible that the crystal was damaged, it's unlikely. The calibrator only has four pins to hold it in, and once it comes loose the tube isn't that hard to break.

Are you sure the 6BZ6 you have is a good one? Seems elementary, but is the tube getting hot?!

If you have another crystal in an HC-6/U package, the lower the frequency the better, does it oscillate?

Try measuring the voltages on the tube socket. You can run the oscillator with three clip leads so you can get to the measurement points.
